German swimmer adds Olympic gold to his world title

Set sights on a bold dream for Paris 2024

Germany's Florian Wellbrock won the gold medal in men's marathon swimming, taking the 10-kilometer race by 253 seconds for his second medal of the Tokyo Games.

Wellbrock, who was born on August 19, 1997, is a German swimmer who is the world record holder in the short course 1500-meter freestyle.

Less than a week after finishing third in the pool during the men's 1500 free, Wellbrock won gold in the men's 10k Open Water race at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Excelling in both pool and open-water swimming events, Wellbrock has set his sights on a bold dream for Paris 2024.
